TRUCE Software is an innovative startup headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with additional offices in Chicago and Dublin, Ireland. Our company specializes in developing cutting-edge mobile device management and connected worker solutions through our mobile application.
Our primary objective at TRUCE Software is to foster secure and efficient connections while ensuring the safety of workers across diverse work settings. Through our app, we have incorporated advanced capabilities to detect changes in the work environment promptly.
Upon joining TRUCE as a Product UX Designer in early 2022, I recognized the need to reposition the company's approach, which had previously been perceived as "out of sight, out of mind" by end-users. Working alongside an exceptional product team and receiving invaluable support from our web, mobile, and platform departments, we successfully pivoted our brand towards a fully end-user-engagement focused strategy.
During my tenure, I have played a pivotal role in shaping several remarkable products that have been instrumental in rebranding TRUCE Software. These products showcase our commitment to becoming a powerful, contextually aware, communication, and safety utility, seamlessly integrated into every employee's workday.
User-Centered Design Process
User-Centered Design, tailored specifically to digital processes and interfaces, represents a terminology cultivated within the software industry. It serves as a framework for developers who prioritize the user experience of their digital tools. This approach revolves around amplifying user contentment with a product by enhancing its usability, accessibility, and the overall delight derived from engaging with it.
User-Centered Design urges designers to blend investigative techniques like surveys and interviews with generative methods such as brainstorming. These tools aid in cultivating a profound comprehension of user requirements. Although the UCD process doesn't impose rigid directives regarding methods or tools, it offers concrete steps for application.
The UCD journey is characterized by a five-step progression:
1. RESEARCH PHASE – Typically encompasses contextual inquiries or interviews.
2. CONCEPT PHASE – Involves the ideation of conceptual prototypes for subsequent design and testing.
3. DESIGN PHASE – Initiates with medium-fidelity representations, progressively refining fidelity through iterative cycles.
4. DEVELOP PHASE – Focuses on constructing the design with risk mitigation strategies in place.
5. TEST PHASE – Involves the deployment of the developed product.
* The cycle of design/test and build is iteratively repeated until a satisfactory product is achieved.
